Name Change in the Next Update!

As you can tell by the header image at the top of the site, Telephone Pictionary has changed its name to Paper Telephone. This change is being made in order to avoid conflict with the copyright of Pictionary.

In the next update, this change will be reflected throughout the app. All regular functions of the game will remain the same.

Fall

So it's been a while since an iOS 5 update has been released, but Apple has said that iOS 5 will be released this Fall. Considering that tomorrow is the first day of Fall, there is a good chance (many rumors) that tomorrow could bring about the GM build and the official release shortly after. It is also rumored that Apple is holding its announcement event on October 4th and could officially release iOS 5 then.

Still waiting...

It turns out that rumors were wrong about an iOS 5 beta 8 update last Friday. It has now been about 3 weeks since beta 7 was released, so there could be a chance that the next release will be the GM rather than another beta. This wait for iOS 5 will definitely be worthwhile, but it is sure getting loooooong! Almost there though!

iOS 5 Update

According to MacRumors, iOS 5 beta 8 is due out this Friday and the GM will be released on the 23rd. There have been speculations about the other betas that have been slightly off, but let's hope that this one is fairly accurate. If the 23rd is indeed the release of the GM build, that could mean that we will see the official release of iOS 5 sometime in the first week of October!

Even closer?

So it seems like Apple releases a iOS5 update about every 2 weeks. Considering this and the fact that beta 7 was released last week, could we possibly see the GM build in the coming week? Let's hope so!

Getting closer!

As iOS 5 beta 7 was released yesterday, we are getting closer to the final release of iOS 5. Hopefully the next release will be the GM build rather than another beta. Other than minor adjustments here and there, Telephone Pictionary is ready to hit the app store!

Complete!

Telephone Pictionary version 1.0 is pretty much complete and ready for the app store when iOS 5 is released!

iPad Version

Began setting up the interface for the iPad version today. It looks awesome! The extra room to draw and the larger graphics compliment the game nicely.

This will be a universal app, meaning that you can downloaded it for any iOS device and it will run nice and smooth. Once the conversion for iPad is finished, Telephone Pictionary will be just about ready to wait for the iOS 5 release!

Price

Telephone Pictionary will be. . . wait for it. . . FREE!

Without paying a penny, you have be able to access all of Telephone Pictionary's features and gameplay. However, due to the cost of running a server to store and serve network game data, users will be limited to 10 Network Play games until making a purchase from the in-app store. This seems reasonable, as you will be able to simultaneously access unlimited network games and extra in-app content such as new color pencils for as little as $.99.

Even without a in-app store purchase, you will have the ability to play Pass n' Play games, unlock achievements, shoot for the top of the leader boards, and much more!

Network Play

Telephone Pictionary will center around network play, so here is a breakdown of how it will work.

Currently, network play only runs as asynchronous turn-based games through Game Center. This means that each player has the ability to take their turn at their own convenience and not all players must be present at once. The only limitation to this is that games must be finished within 30 days of their creation date. In the future, there is a possibility that Telephone Pictionary will also run live multiplayer games that simulate each player passing their stack of cards around the circle. For more info on gameplay, check out this link --> Telephone Pictionary Gameplay

1) To create a match, the player launches the Game Center view and creates a match of 2-16 players. Game Center friends may be invited, spots may be left open for auto-match players, or a combination of both may be used.

2) The player that created the match then takes the first turn by writing the starting phrase. This can be anything from "The cow jumped over the moon" to "A flying monkey". Writing turns are limited to 50 characters, so use them wisely.

3) The turn is then sent to either an invited friend or an auto-matched player. This player will be responsible for drawing a picture of the initial phrase. Users begin with a black color pencil and through both online and offline gameplay can unlock more colors. Colors can also be bought in the TP Store. Once the player has drawn their image, the turn is sent to the next player.

4) At the end of the turn, the player will be prompted to share their turn on either Facebook or Twitter. This can be enabled and disabled in the Settings menu.

5) This cycle continues until each player has taken their turn. Once the last player has taken their turn, each participant will be notified of the end of the match and will have the opportunity to view the entirety of the match. This is where you ask, "What in the world were they thinking when they came up with that?" :)
